Caterpillars

THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

our caterpillars have made it to the classroom and are growing fast! It has only been a night and the students have already noticed they are not as tiny. Science is a blast. Look at seesaw to see pictures and videos of our first look at caterpillars.

We wrapped up unit one in Language Arts... all about information and moved on to opinions. Be ready for lots of opinions in the weeks to come.

We studied the 12 spies this week in Christian Studies and Pastor Mark lead chapel on the same story! They totally clued in and it was great!

We are still spending time on subtractions concepts and they are rocking it.

All About Animals

Oh man! They spent the week studying how animals sleep, how animals use their tails, how animals use their eyes, ears, mouths, feet.... It was all about animals this week. They spent time asking and answering questions, writing facts, and comparing texts about animals. They lived in a world with horned lizards, dolphins, bats, eagles, scorpions, cats, elephants, platypus, hyenas... and the list goes on.

They rocked their Math assessment and have moved on to subtraction concepts! Bring on chapter three.

They also spent time learning about Operation Christmas Child at Chapel, and how it impact the children that receive the gifts. You can start sending in Operation Christmas Child supplies.  They also spend time learning about The Passover, Crossing the Red Sea and Manna in the Wilderness.

Few reminders for next week:

We will be having our class's free dress day on Monday, October 8.  We only have 2 days next week, so the 1st graders will have free dress on Monday and Spirit Wear clothes on Tuesday.  It should be a fun week!

For more information about free dress, including guidelines for what is acceptable, please see page 27 of the parent-teacher handbook.  Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks!

PLEASE REMEMBER NO SCHOOL THE 10-12th Next week.

Blessings,
